Saturday Morning at Gayundah Wrecks

I will be launching the yak on saturday morning down by the Gayundah wrecks at 6:00 a.m. This spot is a bit tricky as you will need a trolley to get down the hill (or just pull it like i do). I really enjoy paddling around the point though because you do then pass by the Gayundah wreck and on many occasions I have seen the dolphins around this area! For those not keen to launch here, I will be around the point near the Woody Point jetty around 6:15 which is the dead high tide. So hopefully the ebb tide will be good for us and bring some calm water before going out again. I will probably head to the bridge and back, unless conditions are so good that I continue up the inlet. If not, I'm thinking the next paddle will be just up the inlet, which is a beautiful place to explore! Hope to see you this Saturday!!!

Paddle still on for this Morning...

Just had a look at the conditions in the bay and the Woody Point/Clontarf side is looking good. So we will stick with the plan of meeting at 7:00 a.m. near the boat launch at Woody Point. Hope to see you there!

Summer has Arrived so Dust the Kayaks Off

Along with this fantastic weather we have been having that is great kayak weather, along come the storms as well. I was planning for a Saturday morning kayak but I am now hesitant with the weekend forecast. Just have to play it by ear and hopefully the bay isn't too rough. I am planning for 7a.m. at the boat launch closest to the Woody Point Jetty. There is an early morning low tide as well. Will update tomorrow to confirm for sure as weather is not looking good but we can only hope it clears up to have a great morning paddle! Hope to see you there!

Spring is in Full Swing and so is Kayaking!

Hello all! I apologise for the lack of posts throughout the winter. I did go out a bit as there were some beautiful winter days on the water but most mornings were a bit chilly! So now that the weather is warming up again what better place to be than on the water? I know it is a bit late notice, but i only just realised the weather was going to be so great this weekend! So for all who are keen on a Saturday morning, I will be out just locally tomorrow morning near the Woody Point jetty boat launch area at about 8:30am. Should be a great time as high tide is around 9:15. Hopefully i will see some of you kayak enthusiasts out there! Otherwise I hope the next few weeks will encourage a few more of you to come along and join in on the fun as the weather only gets better!

Welcome to the Moreton Bay Region Social Kayakers Network!

Welcome to all those in the Moreton Bay Region who really enjoy kayaking and are looking for a few others to explore the great surrounding area in which we live. I have created this blog as a way for all kayakers in the area to get together often throughout the month at various destinations in our beautiful region. Whether you are just starting out on your first kayak and looking for a few others to explore the area with or have kayaked for years and are looking to meet others, this network is a great way to connect with kayakers in our area. Whether the bay area, up the many rivers or in the various dams, there are hundreds of places we can explore through kayaking. I will be setting up meeting spots weekly and bi-weekly and I encourage all those with an interest to come along, meet others and share your kayaking experiences! In addition, I will be working with Moreton Bay Marine Supplies (www.mbms.com.au) to organise an introduction to kayaking for those of you who would like to learn a bit more about kayaking before embarking on a few paddles. More info on this to come very soon!
